TOP 7 CARDIO EXERCISES FOR BOTH MEN AND WOMEN

Cardio (also known as aerobic exercise) is the most common form of weight loss exercise. It is effective, increases heart rate and metabolism too which are key elements for weight loss. Here are seven best cardio workout for both men and women.

Running

Running is a good choice for a number of reasons:
  • It doesn't require special equipment (except some quality and comfortable shoes).
  • You can do it just about anytime, anywhere and as you like to.
  • It helps build strong bones and connective tissue.
  • It helps you burn calories to a great extent, particularly if you add hills or race.
  • The downside is that it takes time to build the strength and stamina to run continuously and, because it’s high impact, it may not work for every person.

Skiing

If you are one of those wishing to burn maximum calories, cross-country skiing is an ideal choice for you. Since it involves both the upper and lower body, it doesn't involve much effort to get your heart rate up, which is where the calorie-burn comes in.  There are a few drawbacks too.  If you’re going for the full outdoor experience, you might need lots of equipment, plenty of practical experience and, of course, snow.

Cycling

No matter if you’re outdoors or indoors, cycling is an excellent cardio exercise. By using your legs, you increase stamina while burning lots of calories, something like 250-500 in 30 minutes, depending on how fast you go and how high your resistance is.  What makes cycling even better than other activities is that you can incorporate it into your daily life.

Elliptical Trainer

After the treadmill, the elliptical trainer is the most popular cardio machine at the gym and it’s no wonder.  The elliptical trainer enables your body to move in a natural way, however without the impact of the treadmill.  You can add force by increasing confrontation and some machines include adjustable ramps and arm handles for added intensity as well.

Swimming

Swimming is another good choice since, like cross-country skiing; it’s a full body exercise. The more body parts you incorporate in your workout, the more calories you are going to burn. Spend 30 minutes doing the breast stroke and you will burn almost 400 calories. It’s also great cross-training for other cardio practices. Additionally, swimming strengthens your core muscles that further helps in other forms of exercises.

Walking

Walking is another good choice for cardio because, like running, it’s accessible:  You don’t need to buy any special equipment and you can do it anywhere or jut about anytime.  Make sure you walk briskly keep you head up, back straight and swing your arms.

Jumping Rope

Jumping rope is one of the best calorie burning work out and, as an added bonus, a jump rope packs easily in your suitcase, making it a wonderful travel exercise.  Start by jumping for 1-2 minutes time, taking breaks by marching in place, continue alternating for 10-20 minutes and, over time, slowly increase the time period of jumping while decreasing your breaks.  You can add variety by trying different foot patterns (jumping on one foot and etc).
